An exciting opportunity has arisen for a (band here) to work on Newton Ward, the only Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within Mersey Care.

The PICU is a dynamic and challenging environment, with a hard-working and dedicated family of staff who strive to provide consistent, high standards of care to the diverse client base that we care for.

The range of skills you can learn and develop while working on the PICU is wide and varied, working in this environment can encourage you to become a dynamic, creative and strong leader as well provide you with the ability to think on your feet, problem solve and manage a challenging setting.

Future aims for PICU include therapeutic and psychological input for clients, this will be driven and provided by the staffing team so staff coming into this role will eventually be provided with additional training that you would not experience working in any of the other local division inpatient wards.

You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills, completing venepuncture and ECG training.

There are also multiple opportunities to engage in further training such as STRIVE, THRIVE and post graduate certification in psychological interventions.
